LEAD Mission
L.E.A.D., a nonprofit organization located in Atlanta, Georgia, is committed to having a significant impact on the number of inner city middle and high school student- athletes playing competitive baseball to prepare them to compete for college baseball scholarships. L.E.A.D. embraces the legacy of leadership demonstrated by African American legends in baseball and community leaders to inspire a new generation of players and coaches to develop and become engaged citizens in their communities and world.
We accomplish this mission by:
- Launching student athletes towards educational opportunities after converting raw talent into the skills required for entry into college athletic programs
- Exposing teens to service and local enrichment activities in order to instill a sense of responsibility, belonging and investment; key requirements for building a civically engaged individual.
- Advising players, coaches and parents on the process of effectively supporting dreams of playing baseball on the college level.
- Directing young men towards their promise by using the historical journey of past African American legends as the roadmap.
- Every L.E.A.D. graduate will play a key role in reshaping the future of baseball by consistently demonstrating character, integrity, stellar skill sets, engaged service to the community and undeniable leadership.
- L.E.A.D. will ignite a legacy of excellence in service and leadership amongst past, present and future Major and Minor League Baseball players of color for the benefit of the game of baseball.
- L.E.A.D., joined by its network or partners, will improve the quality of baseball by diversifying its pool of players with an infusion of L.E.A.D. trained young men who are knowledgeable about the game, committed to service to their communities and able to assume positions of leadership in any field they choose.
