Making of an Ambassador

quoteL.E.A.D. Inc. believes that every child has the right to be successful.

“As a young man, the time spent with teams and mentors outside of my community was invaluable. I received new knowledge that I took home and shared with friends, classmates and etc. All of us were able to benefit from the lessons and training directed at me. L.E.A.D.’s Ambassador program represents the next level of my paying it forward. This program allows me to give young men the same opportunity for growth and leadership that was given to me, all those years ago.” –CJ Stewart

Leaders exemplifying stellar commitment to their community and the game of baseball are selected to represent L.E.A.D. in the summer competitive travel team known as Ambassadors. L.E.A.D.’s Ambassadors are young men who demonstrate athletic prowess on the field, leadership amongst their peers and integrity and civic engagement within their respective communities. The Ambassador program allows L.E.A.D. to use the game of baseball to demonstrate the transferrable skills, awareness and agility needed for young men to win in the game of life.

More than sharing a single uniform or practice schedule, members of L.E.A.D.’s Ambassador team share other important traits and characteristics. Each Ambassador meets the following profile:

  • In pursuit of a high school diploma: Ambassadors are young men between the ages of 14 and 18 enrolled in a local Atlanta high school. Each young man has at least a C average and/or is currently enrolled in a learning assistance program for the sole purpose of increasing his grade point average.

  • Demonstrates respect for the game of baseball: L.E.A.D.’s Ambassadors readily demonstrate a love and respect for America ’s game. They have played the game for more than three years prior to their enrollment in the Ambassador’s program and come recommended by coaches from their recent past.

  • Committed to their community:  Each Ambassador plans, executes and participates in L.E.A.D. sponsored community service projects. An ambassador’s successful completion of L.E.A.D. service projects results in enhanced Civic Stats, a staple performance measure of L.E.A.D.’s Ambassador Program.

  • Recognized as a Team Player: Each Ambassador demonstrates an ability, willingness and proficiency in getting along with others. This is demonstrated by a positive score on L.E.A.D.’s 360 Diamond Feedback form completed on a monthly basis.

  • Actively engaged in their L.E.A.D. sponsored experience: Each Ambassador is expected to assume a leadership role within the Legacy League and the implementation of the Ambassador program. Ambassadors’, plan and develop outings, research and create round table discussions for each L.E.A.D. sponsored clinic and participate in Ambassador Caucuses prior to each practice.

  • Committed to self development for the greater good: Each Ambassador aggressively pursues the activities offered by L.E.A.D. as a way to improve himself and eventually the world of which he sees himself as an active member. Ambassadors participate in intensive and varied development courses which include training in etiquette, leadership and boy to man transitions.
